Login Limit Reached - What Does It Mean?

What happened?

If you see 'Login limit reached' when trying to log in to Synthetix Cloud, your permission group's monthly user login allocation has been reached.

What happens next depends on whether your organisation has a soft limit or a hard limit.

Why has this happened?

Your Synthetix Cloud licence includes a set number of users who can log in each month. This allocation can be split between different permission groups.

For example, a licence with a 200-user limit could be allocated as:

  • 5 Admin users
  • 195 Knowledge only users

A user takes up one place when they first log in during the month. They can then log in as many times as they need to during that month without using another place.

For example, once 195 different Knowledge only users have logged in, the 196th user will reach the allocated limit.

Soft and hard limits

  • Soft limit: Users can continue to log in after the allocated limit has been reached. However, additional users logging in above the agreed limit may incur additional charges.
  • Hard limit: Once the limit is reached, additional users are prevented from logging in. No additional users can log in until the allocation is changed or the limit is increased.

What should I do?

If you see 'Login limit reached':

  1. Contact your supervisor and let them know you are unable to log in.
  2. Your supervisor can contact your organisation's Synthetix account manager or product owner.
  3. They can review the licence usage and, where appropriate, increase the login limit or move quota from one permission group to another.

For administrators

Administrators can check licence usage by going to:

Synthetix Cloud → Admin → Licence Utilisation

This shows how the available user allocation is being used across the different permission groups.

Important: If your organisation uses a soft limit, check your licence utilisation before allowing additional users to log in, as users above the agreed allocation may result in additional charges.
