Understanding Error Code 312: Magic Link Expired or Invalid in Synthetix Cloud

What Error 312 Means

The Magic Link Expired or Invalid (312) error occurs when you attempt to use a login or password reset link that is no longer valid.

Magic links are designed to be time-limited and single-use for security reasons. You may see this error if:

  • The link has expired because too much time has passed since it was generated.
  • The link has already been used once and cannot be reused.
  • The link was copied incorrectly or is incomplete.
  • In rare cases, your email service may automatically “open” links to check if they are safe. This can invalidate the magic link before you click it yourself. We have put systems in place to mitigate the chance of this happening, but it can still occur occasionally.
  • Some email servers may be slow in delivering messages, meaning by the time you receive the email the link may already have expired. If this is the case, raise the issue with your internal IT team.

How to Resolve Error 312

To fix this issue, request a new magic link:

  • Go back to the login or password reset page.
  • Request a new magic link to be sent to your registered email address.
  • Click the link in the email promptly to complete the login or reset process.

If you continue to experience problems, ensure you are opening the most recent email, and check that the full link is included (some email clients may truncate long links). If your email service is triggering the link early, request a new one and try again promptly.
